Storm water calculations for C2014/62 RIW
Project type:
Public infrastructure
RCE Reliable Consulting Engineers was commissioned by Al Jaber & Makhlouf W.L.L. to perform detailed stormwater hydraulic calculations for the Al Jelaiah Junction and associated roundabouts in Qatar. The study aimed to evaluate the capacity and performance of the as-built soakaway system compared with the original drainage design.
The analysis included eight project areas where field modifications had been implemented, such as replacement of soakaway trenches with soakaway manholes and relocation of drainage structures. Using rainfall data from ASHGHAL’s Stormwater Drainage Manual and the SCS method for runoff estimation, RCE verified the hydraulic adequacy of all soakaway systems under 5-year and 10-year design storms.
Results confirmed that the as-built system safely accommodates the design precipitation events, ensuring effective infiltration and sustainable stormwater management consistent with BRE 365 methodology.
